Franck Ribéry is UEFA’s Player of the Week

February 27th, 2009 | By: Laurie | 9 Comments »

Franck Ribéry has been named UEFA’s Player of the Week for his standout performance in the Champions League in Bayern Munich’s 5-0 victory over Sporting. (And now poor Sporting has to go to Munich for the second leg. Ouch.)

Our Franck got two goals (one a penalty) and two assists in the game. Congrats, Franck!

France had a whole bunch of players in both the Champions League and the UEFA Cup this week, and for the most part they played well. More on that later though. This post is all about Franck.

Congratulations, M. Ribéry. Now bring it to the WC qualifiers.

He’s so underrated by football journalists, he should have at least been within the top 10 nominees for the Ballon d’Or. He single-handedly tears up the Bundesliga, he’s going to get board sooner or later..

Ribery is solid, question is why do all the French players play so well for their club, and underachieve for les bleus? hmmm maybe Domenech???

Ribery is solid, no doubt a top 10 player. With so many Frenchies in UEFA and Champions league play and doing well, wonder why they cannot carry this over to Les Bleus…hmmmm….maybe Domenech?

And the best part is that he never boasts or take himself or the game too seriously, quite the practical joker.
