Govou Likes His Women a Little Round
I loved the title to this article about Bleus and Lyon player Sidney Govou: “I Like Women a Little Round.” Is anybody else getting these visions of our Sid performing some French karaoke version of “Baby Got Back”? (Hey, it made ME laugh. And what makes me laugh even more is that I just Google-translated the article and the title comes up, “I love the a little round women.” Giggle. I needed that this morning. Even if you speak French, you should read the Google translation. They’re always hysterical.)
When we last saw Sidney on these pages, we were talking about his party animal tendencies. (About which I still have no details. Cursed French press reticence.) This article is more fun — it’s an interview all about the women in his life. Or the women he wouldn’t mind having in his life.
His dream women? Charlize Theron and Halle Berry.
The Afro-American actress Halle Berry for her natural and relaxed side. And in another way, I very much like Charlize Théron, another American actress, a luscious blonde, who I find insanely charming. In fact, these two women represent my female ideal. I love rather natural women, without make-up, but also those who can be sophisticated and glamourous on certain occasions.
The most important women in his life? His mom, his two younger sisters, and his 20-month-old daughter, Naomy. (All together now: Awwwwww!) (The tone of the rest of the artcle makes me think that the mother is no longer a romantic interest. Anybody?)
Other questions asked: His preferred gesture from a woman (a firm handshake), his preferred undergarment (read it yourself), the woman who made him suffer most, the woman he hates most, his most-preferred quality in a woman, least preferred “defect” in a woman, and several, “If you were a woman” questions.
A very entertaining article about a player you don’t often hear much about. (Now let’s see about perking up his on-field performance for the remainder of the season.)
Thanks to Inara at OL Offside for the link.

This article still makes me laugh.
When I first read it, I was so surprised at how open Govou was, and at how inquisitive the interviewer was. Then I remembered reading an excerpt of a chat at the Lyon forums with Govou, and when people asked him who had the biggest, *you know,* he was really graceful about answering without hurting anyone’s feelings.
Govou is a really nice guy.

p.s. I say ‘one of your boys’ because of his Lyon days. I know he’s not French. ![]()

Yeah, Essien is one of those honorary French guys.
I’m amazed that MORE football players don’t get pulled over for DUI. I wonder how often it gets swept under the rug…
