Ludovic Giuly Ignores Domenech’s Advice
Former Bleus player Ludovic Giuly thinks that it is just SO not fair that Lilian Thuram has been called up despite his injury. (Last time we talked about Giuly here, he’d been complaining about not being called up for World Cup. Actually, his last call-up was in October, 2005.)
Said Ludo last week: “Thuram didn’t train this week. I don’t see how he can play vs. Argentina. His calf pain hasn’t gone away.”
Hmm. Do you think perhaps he was pointing out that he, in fact, DID train last week?
I don’t know, maybe he’s magically become a defender? In which case Domenech might listen. Otherwise, Domenech’s probably sticking to his Giuly comment from last October. Loose translation: Could be a strong player if he shuts his mouth and plays.
Oh, and Ludo? One possible helpful hint for you (and all other players for whom it’s not too late): If you’re going for a spot on the team, you might want to be sure that no Google search on you turns up rumors of romance between you and your sélectionneur’s attractive and much-younger significant other.
Just a thought.
