Not Abidal Too!

You know, with all the work Bleus coach Raymond Domenech does with astrology and tarot cards, you would think he would have seen this coming and made alternative plans. But no.

Add Eric Abidal to the list of Bleus defenders who are questionable for Wednesday’s game. I’m having translation issues (perhaps I should have taken a class in French anatomy terms when I was in college to prepare for blogging about soccer injuries), but it’s looking like maybe ribs? Apparently we’ve run out of centerbacks to have injured, and now we’re on to left-backs who were mentioned as possible replacements for the centerbacks. Who’s next, right-back Willy Sagnol? (I shouldn’t even say that.)

So how many does this make now? Let’s see. Gallas and Boumsong weren’t called up because of injury. Thuram was called up for reasons other than his ability to play. Now Mexès is out, and Squillaci and now Abidal are questionable.

I’m starting to think we should just bag defense altogether and play the game with midfielders and forwards. Imagine how much fun we could have with Henry,Trézéguet, Cissé, Ribéry, Malouda, Govou and Anelka all on the field at one time. (Ooh, I just gave myself goosebumps.)
