Thuram and Sarkozy: The Meeting
Take a look at the photo. Do Thuram and new French President Nicolas Sarkozy look like the newest, bestest buds or what?
I think this picture provides a visual definitions of the phrase “shooting daggers.” I wonder who blinked first.
So how did the election go? Let’s see. Thuram called Sarkozy a racist. Sarkozy called Thuram a liar. Then Sarkozy gets elected and suddenly they’re thrown together in a celebration of the end of slavery. (Is this really something Sarkozy is celebrating?) It could be an interesting few years for our Lilian.
Oh, by the way, I thought this pseudo campaign ad (based on a real one) was very funny. Loose translation: “Together, without the poor, foreigners, welfare clients, the Left, the Extreme Left, the Communists, the CDI, Gays, temporary workers, people with AIDS, the handicapped, the minister of culture and education, the journalists, the Independents,The Noahs (refers to Yannick Noah), Les Thuram (refers to our guy Lilian) and the guy who is having an affair with my wife, everything becomes possible”.
(Personal note: I am out of town till Monday night and will be posting sporadically till then. I’ll be back just in time to start thinking about those June Euro qualifiers. Who do you think will be called up?)

Well I’m not at all happy about Sarkozy’s victory, thank you very much.
Laurie, I heard today over on the Guardian football podcast that Giuly has come out with an autobiography in which he discusses why Domenech refused him a place on the national squad (re Estelle Denis, the TV news anchor and Domenech’s partner). Hear anything about this?

Yes, French press tells this. Maybe it’s true, maybe not. It sell people papers though.

By the way, thuram is ridiculous.

Hi maxilopez, I never left the Argentine blog, I just haven’t posted. I lurk a lot over there. And sorry, Thuram is not ridiculous.
