Trezeguet to Lyon?

November 25th, 2006 | By: Laurie | 2 Comments »

So it’s no big secret that Lyon’s in the market for a striker because all of theirs keep breaking. (Fred? Out. Benzema? Out. Govou? Ditto.) Rumor has it that they’re interested in one of my favorite (hopefully not former) Bleus, David Trezeguet. To the tune of 30 million Euros.

Okay, so yes, granted, my source is a French David Trezeguet fansite. (Link is to the site, in French.) But in general they’ve been one of my most accurate sources of information, and they say it’s coming from numerous Italian media sites. (I don’t read Italian, so I can’t check this.)

According to the site, the President of Olympique Lyonnais and Trezeguet traded mutual air-kisses and had a nice chat at last week’s France-Greece game. (Trezeguet having the time, since he kind of wasn’t, y’know, playing.)

Would this be a good move for David once all of those broken strikers get fixed? Or would he end up a 30 million Euro benchwarmer?

Who knows? But at least it would get him out of Serie B hell at Juventus.

And if things worked out well, it could move him that much closer to a return to Les Bleus.

Laurie, trust me, Trezeguet is not going to Lyon anytime soon.
