Zidane? #10? Doing the Roulette? Wait, No, It’s Enzo!
Bob reported on twelve-year-old Enzo Zidane this morning over at The Offside, but I thought I’d add the video. (The commentary is basically just your standard “like father, like son” stuff.) From Reuters:
Enzo Zidane, named after his father’s idol, the graceful Uruguayan international Enzo Francescoli, is 12 years old and has started his footballing career on the right foot. Young Enzo won his first trophy for one of Real Madrid’s youth teams last weekend when they beat arch-rivals Barcelona to win the Mediterranean International Cup in the Catalan coastal resort of Palamos.Match reports said that Enzo, who plays in the same position as his dad, even dared to showcase one of his father’s trademark pirouettes as he slipped past an opponent in midfield.
Very good, and very much still twelve years old. But dad must be proud. (And even if it is a Zidane, seeing the Barca player sobbing on the field still breaks my maternal heart.)
I bet Chelsea and Inter are already preparing bids. They love to hoard young talent.
