I don’t know if playing South American teams is the best preparation for the tactically disciplined teams in our Euro group. It might have been better practice if we just played Scotland or Germany.

Ok, just had to put this on here. Arsenal’s league game against Newcastle (our 2nd game v. Newcastle in 3 days) just finished. Our own French lion MATHIEU FLAMINI — Wenger calls him “bossy” and his teammates call him Gattuso — delivered a brilliant assist for Adebayor’s goal and later scored a beautiful volley himself. Check them out:

Flamini’s fantastic assist for Ade’s goal, 40th minute: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9Kfg8TyWnM&eurl=http://arsenalist.com/

Flamini’s brilliant volley, 73rd minute: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYqwQlWrGQ4&eurl=http://arsenalist.com/

Final score: 3-0 (Cesc got the third).

Thanks, Patrick…
Ah! you gotta love Raymond! In this piece I think he is pretty realistic and explains pretty well his views, being afraid that players are getting overworked basically, for Benzema in particular. I’m waiting for the second part.

I think it might be good to play some of these SA teams, I’d be a little reluctant to play European big guns so close to the real thing. They have technique, speed and spirit - as long as they don’t hurt our guys. But remember Paraguay was hyper-defensive and gave us a lot of work in 98.

I like how he speaks his mind. There is no mincing of words with this guy.

Unless he’s talking about Italy. Then he talks in double-speak with those back-handed insults disguised as compliments.

I love that man. :)

Sandrahn,
Wow, what a bomb! I think we definitely could use long strikes, it would open up and spread defenses. That goal is a beauty. I say, let’s get him in at some point!

Remids me of another goal which almost guaranteed this guy a place in the NT (at least that’s what the commentary says) along with plain talent; and just because I like to watch good goals:
