Gallas Is Back (What Did I Tell You?)

February 17th, 2007 | By: Laurie | 3 Comments »

A couple of weeks ago, I was wondering here how long it would take Bleus and Arsenal defender William Gallas to get fit and healthy. You’ll recall that Gallas has been out with a thigh injury since November — an injury Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger still blames on France Coach Raymond Domenech because Raymond played Gallas for the entire France-Greece friendly right before the injury occurred.

When I mentioned this, I estimated that Gallas would be fit as soon as it was too late for Domenech to call him up for last week’s France-Argentina friendly.

How close was I? Well, guess who’s playing for Arsenal this weekend.

But I’m sure this is a total coincidence.

(Now the big question: Will Gallas still be fit and healthy for the Lithuania Euro qualifier and the Austria friendly next month?)

Sam, I think it depends on whether you’re Domenech or Wenger.

Wenger can’t stand Domenech and he thinks international football is “boring” — he thinks club football is far more exciting.
