My name is Chris O’Neill and I live in London. I’ve been an Arsenal fan since I can remember and decided to do the France blog because of all the good things French football has done for my team recently.

The first World Cup I have really vivid memories of was the 1974 competition in West Germany, by then I was a confirmed football addict and would watch every game.

My favourite tournament since then has been the 1982 finals in Spain. A brillant place to hold the World Cup and that year produced some great teams – Brazil, France, Italy – and some fantastic matches.

This year I think the traditionally strong teams will do better than they did in Japan/Korea. Leagues like the Premiership are finishing early to give the national teams a full month’s preparation.

My prediction of who’ll win is not very original, Brazil. Goals win games and when it gets to the knockout stage Brazil have more goalscoring weapons than other teams.

I hope France have a good run and that Thierry Henry can play to his best, an on fire Henry would be great for the World Cup.

Allez Les Bleus.
