Euro Under-19 Final

France played Spain yesterday in the Under-19 Euro Final.

Watching that video made my morning. It even put my jaded French wife in a good mood. It looks like there’s a fantastic spirit for France at the under-19 level, and some decent players.

The number 9 didn’t get a goal, but he made an impression on the highlights. It was Chelsea’s Gael Kakuta in the number 7, I believe, and he confirmed the belief that he’s a big talent. Arsenal youngster Gilles Sunu (#10) got the equalizer.

France have this terrific knack of winning tournaments at home – not something most countries can do (incl. Brazil, so far). What a fantastic win! Good to see an Arsenal player, Sunu, on the scoresheet

Very true Sandra, France ALWAYS perform as a host nation, 1984 and 1998. Maybe Michel Platini voted for France 2016 for that reason?

How would we know that based on Chelsea? Anelka was a regular starter for a league-winning side, and Kakuta couldn't even make the bench, right?

I agree with you. Anelka looked like dead weight this summer. Kakuta looks absolutely brilliant in that 9-minute highlight video. But it's obviously not that simple if you take into account their statures at their club.

Anelka was a shadow of Drogba last season. Not saying he was terrible but he is getting old and he has retired from the national team. Lampard, Drogba, and Anelka are +30 years. Its time to find a fresh attacking set. Kakuta is also a great prospect for the national team!

Le Magnifique! This team would have outplayed the world cup squad. And this uniform is by far better than the one we chose for South Africa. Let's keep the victories rolling.

Those guys are terrific ! It's good to see France beat Spain.
What Kakuta does on the second goal is brilliant. It's maybe a little too soon to see them in the A team but I'm sure that we'll see a handful of them wearing the blue jersey in 2014.
